Courtallam Border Rahmath Hotel started as a small eatery at Courtallam 40 years ago in 1972. It started with only serving tea and then adding parotta & chicken gravy to their menu. The main branch is located in Kerala- Tamil Nadu border and courtallam is known tourist spot for attracting large crowds and in overtime this place has become an iconic place in courtallam and there are people visiting courtallam just to taste the food from this place.
Currently, there are two branches in Chennai (Anna nagar & T nagar) we visited the Anna nagar branch to try out their dishes and this cannot be compared to their parent outlet which is in courtallam and let’s see if all the hype about this place can satisfy us and ever since I heard about the main branch been waiting to visit this place.
Courtallam Border Rahmath Hotel, Anna nagar
Courtallam Border Rahmath hotel located in Anna nagar, and we visited this place for dinner to try out their parotta & chicken for which they are famous. There were literally no customers in the restaurant around 7:00 pm and at least for the fame of this place we thought it will be crowded, but we soon realized that the food served here may not be up to the expectations.
Border parotta – ₹17 rupees, Gun Chicken – ₹165 rupees
First we tried the famed border parotta, it tasted exactly like small Madurai style bun parotta and it was soft and delicious and you only get chicken gravy as side dish and it was delicious and you can visit this place just for the Parotta. Next order was the Veechu parotta which was an add-on we wanted to try but it was way below average than the ones which are served in normal hotel, and we regretted buying it.
Then we ordered gun chicken and you get one single leg piece meat which was so tender & juicy but it just felt like eating a normal chicken & we couldn’t feel the restaurant’s special recipe kick. And since the chicken was good we tried ordering Mutton pepper fry and it was average in taste and totally different from gun chicken. Also, literally everything here is expensive as the main branch has greater fame and popularity the cost of even a normal parotta is around ₹20 rupees but if they are providing with that kind of quality and taste it is acceptable but the Anna nagar branch is not up to the expectations of Border Rahmath kadai.
Mutton Pepper Fry – ₹250 rupees & Half boil – ₹30 rupees
That’s the quantity provided for Mutton pepper fry and as I said before the mutton is not up to the expectations but the chicken here is good and I’d recommend just getting Parotta & chicken if you visit here by any chance
